Change Feels Different When People Feel Supported

Jul 06, 2026

Over the past month, our conversations have centered on mothers, emotional wellness, harmony, intuition, boundaries, and the many ways people quietly support those around them.

As we reflected on those discussions this week, I found myself thinking about something we all experience, whether at home, at work, or somewhere in between.

Change.

Most people will tell you they do not like change. Yet when I look back at the most meaningful growth in my own life, it almost always arrived through some form of change.

New opportunities, new responsibilities, new relationships, new lessons, and sometimes even unexpected challenges all required me to leave something familiar behind and move toward something new.

That made me wonder if change is really what people resist.

Or is it something else?

Perhaps what makes change difficult is not the change itself. Perhaps it is the uncertainty that often comes with it. We wonder what will happen next. We question whether we are prepared. We worry about making mistakes. We wonder whether others will understand, support us, or even come with us on the journey, Unity.

When those questions begin to build, so does stress. That is why support (Unity) matters so much.

Over the past several weeks, our podcast guests have shared different perspectives on emotional wellness, personal growth, harmonious relationships, and healthy boundaries.

Although each conversation was unique, they all seemed to point toward a similar realization. People grow best when they feel supported. They communicate better when they feel heard. They navigate challenges more effectively when they know they do not have to carry everything alone.

That truth applies far beyond families.

It applies to teams navigating change. It applies to organizations introducing new strategies. It applies to leaders guiding others through uncertainty. And it applies to every person who is trying to grow into the next version of themselves.

As I work with individuals, teams, and organizations, I often see the same pattern. Change initiatives are frequently designed around processes, systems, timelines, and objectives. Those things matter. They absolutely matter. But people experience change emotionally:

  • Before they experience it operationally.
  • Before a new process becomes successful, someone must understand it.
  • Before a new strategy gains traction, someone must trust it.
  • Before a new direction produces results, someone must believe it is possible.

And that belief is often built through communication, connection, and support. That is one reason the Achieving Unity Leadership System™ continues to resonate with me. Encouraging, Inspiring, and Including others is not simply a philosophy.

It is a practical way to help people move through uncertainty together. When people feel included in the journey, change becomes less intimidating. When they feel encouraged, confidence begins to grow. When they feel inspired, they start to see possibilities instead of obstacles.

Unity is not a Soft Skill. It is a Leadership Discipline!™

The more I think about it, the more I realize that many of the challenges we face today are not really technical problems. They are communication challenges, trust challenges,  relationship challenges and leadership challenges.

And the solution rarely begins with more pressure.

It begins with a greater understanding.

As we close our May conversations and begin June's focus on fathers, men's wellness, leadership presence, and responsibility, this feels like an important place to pause and reflect.

  • Who helped support you through the most significant changes in your life?
  • Who might need your support as they navigate change right now?
  • Sometimes growth happens because we discover the right answer.
  • Sometimes growth happens because someone walks beside us long enough to help us find it.

🎙️ Join Me Live on Wednesday, June 10, 2026

I will be joined by Nathan Johnston for a timely conversation on the Interaction Focused Family Institute.

As we begin our June focus on fathers, leadership, emotional wellness, and intentional growth, we will explore how individuals, families, teams, and organizations can navigate change more effectively through communication, support, clarity, and intentional leadership.

Because change feels very different when people feel supported.

If this week's reflection resonated with you, I invite you to stay connected, share it with someone who may benefit from it, and continue the conversation throughout the week.

Whether through coaching, consulting, keynote speaking, training, workshops, or simply meaningful dialogue, my mission remains the same:

Achieving Unity by Harnessing the Power of Encouraging, Inspiring, and Including Others™.

Together, we are building better businesses, better lives, and a better world™, one conversation, one relationship, and one intentional step at a time.
