Success Begins When People Can Finally See You

Jul 16, 2026

One sentence from this week's conversation with Grant McGaugh, FHIMSS has stayed with me ever since we published the podcast on YouTube.

"Telepathy is not a strategy. You're going to have to become visible and have a point of view about what's important to you."

The more I thought about those words, the more I realized they reach far beyond marketing or business. They touch something much deeper that affects every relationship we build, every team we join, and every opportunity to lead.

People cannot understand what we never communicate. If we do not say it, they will not hear it.

Sometimes we assume our intentions are obvious. We believe others know we appreciate them, support them, or value their contributions. We expect coworkers to recognize our commitment, family members to understand our concerns, or clients to immediately see the value we bring, but most of the time, they simply do not have enough information.

That is not because people do not care. It is because none of us can read another person's mind.

Strong relationships are built through visible actions, honest conversations, and a willingness to share what matters. The same principle applies whether we are leading an organization, raising a family, building a business, or strengthening a friendship.

As I reflected on Grant's observation, another thought began to surface.

Perhaps many of the misunderstandings we experience are not due to ill intent. Perhaps they begin with information that was never shared, questions that were never asked, or conversations that never happened.

That realization connects naturally to one of the principles behind LID-To-GID™.

Before we can solve a problem, we must first understand reality. We Listen In Dialogue because dialogue helps us replace assumptions with understanding. From there, we can Write It Down, Break It Down, Review Its Dependencies, and Get It Done. Progress becomes much easier when we work with a shared understanding rather than silent expectations.

This week's conversation also reminded me why Achieving Unity continues to matter.

Unity is not created because everyone thinks alike. Unity grows when people feel safe enough to express their ideas, ask thoughtful questions, and contribute their unique experiences. When people know they are seen, heard, and valued, trust grows stronger. Stronger trust creates stronger relationships, and stronger relationships produce stronger results.

That may be one reason resilient teams can navigate adversity more effectively than others. Long before challenges appear, they have already built the communication, respect, and confidence that difficult moments require.

As the FIFA World Cup continues to capture the attention of millions around the world, it offers another reminder that competition and Unity can exist together. Nations compete with passion, yet the tournament also brings people from different cultures together through a shared love of the game. Success may be measured on the scoreboard, but the lasting impact is often found in the relationships, respect, and shared experiences created along the way.

This week, consider one simple question. Is there someone who would benefit from hearing what you have been assuming they already know?

It might be appreciation that has gone unspoken. It might be encouragement someone desperately needs. It might be a vision that deserves to be shared more clearly. Whatever it is, visible communication often becomes the first step toward lasting connection.

Success Focused Solutions begin by Building Better Leaders, Stronger Relationships, and Lasting Results. Those results rarely happen by accident. They grow when we choose to communicate with intention, listen with humility, and lead with authenticity.

This Week's Unity Takeaway

People cannot support a vision they cannot see, and they cannot understand a message that is never shared. Visibility, communication, and authentic relationships are where lasting leadership begins.
