Growth Requires Change, But Change Requires Support

Jul 05, 2026

Over the past month, our podcast conversations have centered around mothers, emotional wellness, harmony in the home, boundaries, and the quiet strength many people carry every day while supporting others.

As I reflected on this week’s conversation with Cynthia Klein about Personal Boundaries for Moms, one thought stayed with me long afterward:

Healthy growth rarely happens without healthy change.

At first, that sounds simple enough. Most people understand that growth and change are connected. But in real life, change can feel uncomfortable even when we know it is necessary. It can challenge routines, relationships, communication habits, expectations, and sometimes even the way we see ourselves.

This is where many people quietly struggle.

  • Not because they are weak.
  • Not because they do not care.
  • But because change often asks us to grow before we feel fully ready.

One of the things I appreciated most during Cynthia’s conversation was the reminder that boundaries are not about shutting people out. Healthy boundaries often help people communicate more clearly, protect emotional wellness, and create healthier relationships over time.

That applies to far more than parenting.

  • It applies to leadership.
  • It applies to teams.
  • It applies to workplaces.
  • It applies to families.

And it certainly applies to our own mental and emotional well-being. Because when people constantly give without rest, support, clarity, or communication, exhaustion eventually replaces peace.

Many people today are carrying responsibilities that others never fully see. They continue to show up for their families, workplaces, friends, organizations, and commUNITY while quietly trying to hold themselves together emotionally.

And after a while, even strong people need space to breathe, regroup, and feel supported, too.

As we close May and reflect on mothers, maternal mental health, emotional strength, and family leadership, I think many of us are beginning to realize something important:

The emotional environments we create shape the people within them and that truth carries into every area of life.

  • At home, it shapes relationships.
  • At work, it shapes culture.
  • In leadership, it shapes trust.
  • And,  within families, it often shapes how future generations learn to communicate, cope, and connect with others.

That is why Achieving Unity through Encouraging, Inspiring, and Including others continues to matter so deeply to me: people grow differently when they feel supported rather than judged. They communicate differently when they feel heard instead of dismissed and they handle change differently when they know they are not carrying everything alone.

As we prepare to move into June and begin focusing on fathers, leadership presence, responsibility, and men’s wellness, I think this transition matters more than many people realize.

  • Healthy fathers matter.
  • Healthy mothers matter.
  • Healthy leadership matters.

And perhaps one of the greatest leadership opportunities we have today is helping people feel emotionally safe enough to grow, communicate honestly, and move forward intentionally together.

  • That is true in families.
  • That is true in organizations.
  • And that is true in life.

Join Me Live on Wednesday, June 3, 2026

Next week on the Achieving Unity Leadership System™ podcast, Ronald M Allen joins us for a conversation on “Managing Change.”

As we begin our June focus on fathers, leadership, emotional wellness, and intentional growth, we will explore how people and organizations can navigate change more effectively through communication, clarity, support systems, and intentional leadership because change always affects people before it affects systems.

And, when people feel supported during change, growth becomes far more possible. I believe this conversation will resonate with many leaders, parents, teams, and organizations right now.

As you move through this week, I want to leave you with something simple to reflect on:

  • When people around you experience change, do they feel pressure to simply “figure it out”…or do they feel supported while growing through it?

Growth rarely happens through information alone. Most lasting growth happens when people feel Encouraged, Inspired, Included, and supported enough to continue moving forward one conversation at a time.

If this resonates with you, stay connected, share this with someone who may need it, and continue the conversation with me throughout the week.

And if you are ready to strengthen communication, Unity, emotional wellness, and intentional leadership within your organization, team, family, or personal journey, I would be glad to support you through coaching, consulting, workshops, or speaking engagements.

We are not just collecting ideas. We are building better businesses, better lives, and a better world™ together, one conversation, one relationship, and one intentional step at a time.
