What Changes When We Understand More?

Sep 08, 2026

Achieving Unity Weekly | September 3, 2026  Last Friday’s AULS Foundations™ conversation reminded us that awareness can change how we see a workplace policy, a joke, an assumption, or how someone is treated because they may seem different. The situation may not change at that moment, but greater understanding can change what we do next.

That idea continued throughout this week.

Monday’s Listen In Dialogue™ conversation explored a leadership Reality: when we listen only to those closest to us, important knowledge can remain unheard. Listening means creating the opportUNITY for people who understand the Reality to help shape what happens next.

Tuesday, Strengthen Your Stress Shield™ moved us from listening to planning. Uncertainty can feel different when we know our next step. Asking who needs to be involved, what information is missing, and what must happen first can turn concern into something we can work through together.

Yesterday, Dr. Mort Orman returned for our 101st Achieving Unity Leadership System™ Weekly Podcast. Dr. Mort was my first guest which made his return especially meaningful. We explored unwanted anger and why managing the reaction may never address what keeps creating it. What if understanding the patterns beneath anger gives us choices that willpower alone cannot?

Thank you, Dr. Mort, for returning 101 conversations later and helping us explore another path toward anger elimination, self-improvement and life mastery.

This week’s biggest idea is:

  • Understanding expands our choices, but what we do with that understanding determines what changes or improves.

That applies when we become aware of another person’s experience, listen to voices we previously missed, create a plan during uncertainty, or understand what may be driving our own reactions.

Next Wednesday, September 9, Marla Press joins me to explore femininity and masculinity beyond simply being male or female. How can different qualities, expectations, and ways of showing up influence communication, leadership, relationships, stress, and how we understand one another?

Tomorrow, AULS Foundations™ continues HATE: Have/ing Accelerated Troubled Expectations™ through Community Engagement and Acceptance. We will explore how stronger connections can reduce isolation and the mentality that fuels hate.

  • Connection weakens isolation and strengthens our shared humanity.

On September 17 at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET, our Achieving Unity Leadership & Resilience Summit returns with five experienced panelists sharing practical ways to Prepare, Protect, Respond, Recover, and turn pressure into purposeful action. Our panelists include:

As you move into the next week, consider: Where could greater understanding give you a better choice?

Because Unity is not a soft skill; it is a Leadership Discipline™.
