April Non-Madness

Updated: Apr 4

The NCAA March Madness is almost over! Sixty-eight of the best college basketball teams, men and women, are playing each other to reach their respective Final Four tournament. An achievement in Unity to begin a tournament that will show who can perform as the best team during the next few weeks.

The women’s final game is on Sunday, April 7 and the men’s final game is on the following night, April 8, 2024.

I have been a faithful follower of March Madness since I started Junior High (Middle) School and played on the High School basketball team in my hometown. I was not good enough to start but I enjoyed the comradery and playing against neighboring towns with my friends and teammates. Some of my teammates went on to play at colleges close to home.

During the 2024 March Madness, many of us saw some excellent shooting throughout the tournament, countless last-minute shots or blocked shots and defensive maneuvers that rate high in the eyes of many professional basketball teams.

Any competition that can take the best of the best to compete against each other in well-managed tournament games is priceless. The individuals that join as a team and function within the set rules that everyone must follow is the ultimate plan, personally and professionally.

Today, we are approaching the end of the excitement as “March Madness” will soon close for 2024. I hope we are all able to share the memories that were created as every team is a winner that makes it into the March Madness tournament. We can all share the fun that was generated as each university accepts glory for the tremendous efforts put forth by the coaches and players to show everyone they are all true champions.

There were a few players that lost their temper temporarily during the games but they all maintained their dignity and continued to play as young professionals. Many of these players can return to the 2025 March Madness for another chance of winning.

All competitions that takes place, at any age, where we can match the best of the best against each other in well-managed tournament games, is priceless. It is a pleasure to watch individuals that join as a team, and function within the rules that everyone must follow, to exercise the ultimate game plan.

The NCAA March Madness has one of the best examples of growing young adults working together without regard to prejudice. Each coach and team member on the court has proven themselves over the past year and shown they can perform against anyone else of equal university standards. One player does not judge another because of their race, gender, nationality, social status, sexual orientation, religious affiliation or other prejudice.

As we join all the winners that performed so well during the 2024 March Madness, can we emphasize that the madness, as it is called, is because of the entrenched excitement of the best playing the best without any foolish behavior?

Oxford Languages defines madness as “extremely foolish behavior’ or “a state of frenzied or chaotic activity.” Even though the last minute of a close basketball game may seem frenzied or chaotic, each team is performing a plan they believe will outperform the other team.

The winning team is the one that plays as young, mature professionals and follows the best practiced plan. The winning teams are Focused on playing by the rules and not causing unplanned fouls against the other team where they can make free throws or allow the other team to score more points than them.

The winning team must perform better than any of the other sixty-seven teams they play against before the end of the March Madness without any foolish behavior and they must be Focused on being organized with their team to follow their best plan.

Once it is over, they are ready to close March Madness 2024 tournament that generated extensive excitement and fun as they can begin an April Non-Madness going forward throughout the rest of the year.
